The 2006 Board of Governors Annual Meeting will embrace many topics. Amongst the most important general areas of discussion will be the promotion of financial stability and sustainable economic growth, investment climate, capacity building for the global economy, achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s), enhancing access to information and communication, tackling the challenges of emerging capital markets and promoting entrepreneurship.

Progress must be made on all of these issues, and the first step towards crafting good policy is inclusive dialogue amongst the participants.

Hence, four central themes emerge:-

  • Maintaining international financial stability and analysing the sources of global macroeconomic strength and weaknesses
  • Analysing the successes of Asia’s recent economic dynamism
  • Maintaining momentum for the aid initiatives made in the past several years
  • Addressing issues of global governance so as to promote cooperation on all of the above issues.
